Alta Marea Feature!!
Competitive teams from The University of Alabama are typically associated with the accomplishments of the Crimson Tide on the football field. In 2006, The University of Alabama began fielding another team: the Alta Marea Winter Guard. In its first year of competition, Alta Marea which translated from Italian means, “high tide,” was an Independent A class finalist at the 2006 WGI World Championships. Its show was titled Once in a Lifetime, a unique rendition of the Talking Heads song of the same name sung over the jazz standard Birdland by Jacqui Naylor.
